Industry & MEP Alumni

Students interacting with industry at the Networking BBQ

We are always excited to interact with industry and Cal Poly alumni passionate about supporting MEP and our students! Industry and alumni advice, perspectives, time, and support are all key ingredients to the success of our program. We would not be able to provide our services without you!

Looking for ways to get involved?

  1. Learn more about our Industry Advisory Board (see below).
  2. Attend a MEP Flagship Event or other campus events: You are more than welcome to attend our MEP Networking BBQ or participate in other events!
  3. Connect with your fellow alumni: There is strength in numbers. Keep MEP alive by sharing its growth and progress with others. Join your local SHPE or NSBE professional chapters to stay involved with the clubs. Organize a group workshop or tour.

IAB Board Meetings

MEP holds IAB meetings every spring quarter and invites all board members to attend. Our goal is to share with our members what we have accomplished, and where we want to go the following year. With the input of our IAB, we work to shape our program to create students who will be ready for the workforce upon graduation.

See below for all documents provided at our last meeting held virtually on May 14, 2021:

MEP Resume Database

Members of our IAB and industry attendees at our flagship events receive access to our Resume Database of current MEP student resumes. The database is updated before each event and sent to industry after the event.

MEPConnect - Virtual for Fall 2021

MEP is committed to supporting our students in their professional development. We believe it's important to offer multiple opportunities for our students to interact with our industry supporters and think MEPConnect is a great avenue for this kind of networking. If your company/organization is interested in connecting with MEP students for a workshop, info. session, tech. talk, etc., MEPConnect is a great option!

How does it work?

  1. Available dates are selected by the MEP Team for each academic quarter. We select dates based on the timing of the quarter that we believe are best suited for optimal student attendance. See below for the available dates for Fall 2021:
    • October 11th - 15th
    • October 18th - 22nd
    • October 25th - 29th
    • November 15th - 19th
  2. Due to the pace of the quarter and our advising responsibilities, the MEP Team can only coordinate up to three MEPConnect events per quarter.
  3. MEP is unable to coordinate sessions during the first three weeks of a quarter
  4. Events are held Monday through Friday, must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance, and are typically up to 60 minutes long.
  5. Events will be fully virtual via Zoom for Fall 2021.

What is the cost?

A $250 coordination fee that is due at the time of your registration and is put directly towards funding MEP services and MEP’s partnership with Cal Poly Cares.

What is included?

  1. Coordination services (PLEASE NOTE: MEP cannot guarantee student attendance.)
  2. Marketing to MEP students via two stand-alone emails, social media (MEP's Instagram), and through MEP-supported clubs (NSBE & SHPE).
  3. Collecting student RSVPs and sending this list prior to the event.
  4. Access to our MEP Resume Database.

How do I sign UP?

Please fill out our MEPConnect Industry Request Form at least three weeks prior to your desired event's date.

A MEP team member will respond to MEPConnect requests within two business days and include information about next steps including payment options.
