MESA Schools Program
The MESA Schools Program (MSP) supports pre-college students in math and science so they will be competitively eligible for college. The program is geared toward California middle and senior high school students.
What MESA offers!
- MESA Periods - Some school sites offer a regular designated time during the school day for to conduct MESA curriculum.
- SAT/PSAT - Preparation for MSP students taking the college board exams. Workshops are offered jointly during the academic year by MESA, EAOP, and Cal-SOAP.
- Study Skills Training - Students are provided with the most effective techniques for academic achievement.
- MESA Day - Opportunity for students to compete for awards in hands-on math, science, and English activities at local and regional levels. Career and College exploration - Opportunity to hear speakers from Industry and Colleges about career opportunities, preparation, and requirements.
- Incentive Awards - where students receive cash and non-cash awards for outstanding academic achievement, participation and leadership. Parent Leadership - training where parents learn how to become effective advocates and supporters for their children pursuing higher education.
- Individual Academic Planning - Students are provided information and guidance in developing academic plans for pursuing higher education. Includes application for admissions workshops.
- Project Academies - A variety of projects used for the MESA Day competitions consist of Saturday Academies. These Academies are intended to provide some hands-on learning experience with other engineering students from the university. Additionally, our industry partners, faculty and staff from the university participate in these academies to help provide insight into the projects.
